Guest Post – Top 5 Favorite Whole30 Recipes By: Popular Paleo
Well hello there and Happy Whole30 day 2! Well day 2 for me at least. Did you start on the first with Ciarra of Popular Paleo? Or were you a slacker like me and started yesterday? So how are we feeling so far? I already want dark chocolate. Sigh. I’m staying strong though.
So I had the most amazing weekend ever! We got in to San Francisco on Thursday and my company rented out Great America amusement park for us all day with non-stop beer, wine, and theme park food. I just stuck to wine. A lot of it. Then Friday we spent the whole day in Santa Cruz at my favorite bar 99 Bottles, that’s the bar where I have my stamp card! I’m at 74 only 25 to go until I reach 99. I’m very excited about this. Then on Saturday we went to San Francisco, it was AWESOME! We walked 20 blocks for my favorite French Macarons ever on the planet. I got a box of 12 and ate every single last one of them by the end of the day. I die for the Salted-Caramel ones. Die. Then we bar hopped around Chinatown and learned a new dice game while we drank Chinese Mai Tais. It was non-stop fun and WAY too much drinking. I am so ready to give my liver a vacation and get back to being healthy. What? I just like drinking I can’t help it.
So to kick off our Whole30 I’ve invited Ciarra from Popular Paleo to share her favorite all time Whole30 recipes with us. Yum. Tell me they don’t look ridiculously good. Forks up!
Who’s ready for a Whole30?! I know I’m excited to finally put my big-girl pants on and knock one of these out! I’m especially excited because not only will I have a community of followers doing this with me, but I also get the fabulous Ms. Vanessa as a partner in meat-and-veggie-noshing crime.
October 2013 marks the one year anniversary of my commitment to Paleo. Wow, what a year it has been! Twelve months ago I was on the fence, lamenting that I would be confined to eating steamed trout and sautéed greens for breakfast. I was not at all interested in giving up my love of spending hours in the kitchen, barefoot and chopping garlic, whipping up some gooey, cheesy, pasta dish. Then a friend suggested that I see going Paleo as a challenge, not just for my health, but in the kitchen too. Could I still create awesome food–the stuff you’d want to eat even if you weren’t Paleo? Challenge accepted, my friend.
The same challenge is in front of me—and in front of you—right now. Time to tighten things up and stick to the foods that promote and support the “Four Good Food Standards” as outlined in It Starts With Food. (Can you think of at least one off the top of your head right now?) This isn’t about weight loss, though that happens. We’re doing the work required to stabilize our hormones, boost our immunity, reset our mindset on what eating real food looks like and take care of our guts — the barrier between what should be absorbed into our bodies and what needs to stay the hell out.
Time to do the work, people.
While trout and greens at 7am is just fine, let me show you my Top 5 Whole30 recipes which dominate that boring plate. These recipes are gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free, soy-free, legume-free, preservative/chemical-free and sugar (in all forms) free. Pretty awesome, right?”
